Structure of Households Tab
The Household Tab is comprised of 2 sections:
- The Current Household
- Identified by the Household ID and the Household Type
- Previous Households
Household Visibility vs Client Visibility
ServicePoint currently operates as a closed system which means visibility of data is restricted on a program-by-program basis. However, ALL programs have visibility to the Household ID and Household Type. Visibility to the client(s) within each household is restricted to the program who is or has been working with that client.
For example, here’s what the household tab looks like when shadowing an HMIS User from Children’s Cottage:
In contrast, here’s what the household tab looks like when shadowing an HMIS User from Trellis. Under Trellis, we can see Test Client 5153 (since Trellis worked with this client), whereas the Children’s Cottage user cannot.
*Please note the above TWO screenshots display a scenario of TWO current households. This is something to avoid! In most cases there should only be ONE current household.
Establish ONE Current Household
The Current Household reflects the group of clients currently being serviced by your program. You will see:
- Client ID & Name
- Press hyperlink to access each client’s profile
- Age
- If they are the Head of Household (HoH)
- Joined Household Date
- Previous Associations with this household
- Household Count
- Number of different households’ client is associated with
In most cases there should only be ONE current Household. Unless the client journey reflects an individual being part of two different households serviced by your program at the same time.
- If there are two current households, but should only be ONE, press ‘Manage Household’ of the outdated household.
- In the Household Information screen, press the red prohibitive button to remove that client from the outdated household:
- Indicate the date the client left the historical household and press ‘Save’. Use today’s date if unsure:
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for as many clients as needed to remove them from the historical/redundant household. Once complete, press Save & Exit. You should now see only ONE current household. The historical/redundant household will now be found under ‘Previous Households’.
Previous Households
Clicking the black arrow next to ‘Previous Households’ will expand all previous households the client was affiliated with.
From here you can view:
- Number of households client previously affiliated with
- (In our example: 6)
- Household ID
- Household Type(s)
- If client was HoH of that household
- Dates client joined/exited each household
- Number of associations client had with that household
Clicking on a previous household will open the Household Information screen, where you can:
- Delete the Household – if it was created by your program. You do not have permission to delete households created by other programs. Only delete a household if it was created in error.
- Add/Delete Household Members
- Expand ‘Previous Household Members’ to view clients associated with that household
If there are Previous Households on file, they will appear as you progress through the Client’s ClientPoint profile. For example, under the ROI Tab, you will be asked to select the appropriate household ID to apply the ROI to. In our example below, you can see the 6 previous Households, and the current household.
