HMIS ServicePoint has a structured Provider Tree (Hierarchy):
- Level 1 Provider = HMIS Administrators
- This is the top of the tree/hierarchy. All other provider levels fall under Level 1.
- There are only 2 examples:
- Calgary HMIS (our HMIS & Data Teams)
- WellSky (the Vendor CHF licenses HMIS from)
- Level 2 Provider = Agency
- The next level of the tree/hierarchy is Level 2 or the Agency. These are the funded and non-funded Agencies.
- Agencies may have 1 or more programs operating under them.
- Level 3 and 4 providers fall under Level 2.
- User Account Licenses are allocated from the Level 2 Provider.
- There are multipleLevel 2 Agency examples (over 50 in total):
- Alpha House (Provider ID: 138)
- Inn From the Cold (Provider ID: 7)
- Level 3 Provider = Programs
- Programs (referred to as Provider in HMIS) are where the services are provided to clients.
- Each Program/Provider has a Provider ID#. The Provider ID # is used by the Data Team to navigate/search data within the Data Warehouse.
- Level 3 Providers are where the data entry occurs
- There are multipleLevel 3 Provider examples (over 240 in total):
- Aurora on the Park – Alpha House (Provider ID: 258)

This Provider Tree was designed with this structure to support:

- Visibility rules. If data/info is entered at Level 2 (Agency), that info will trickle down to the providers beneath it.
Within the Admin Menu, click on Provider Admin. Press ‘Show Advanced Options’. This allows you to search HMIS with more detail.
*Please Note: Over the years there have been multiple iterations of the HMIS Team, and naming conventions within HMIS have changed with each team iteration. As of 2023, the correct naming convention moving forward should be:
